YOU’RE INVITED

THIS WEDNESDAY

March 9 • 5:30pm

(this event is FREE to the public)

Shifting Grounds of the Tongueless.
⸭◈⸭
Material is an archive,
memory, monument,
and the mute witness,
of trade, migrations,
and conflict.
Fingerprints for
colonial violence,
generational survival,
elemental ceremonies.
⸭◈⸭
Under the city of Utica,
Mohawk and Mafia
muffled in wetlands.
There is no solid
ground, only
thick silence,
– the swamp sits.
This land, an
old trade route, with
forgotten footprints,
unresolved voices,
interrupted lives.
Filled with stories
but no tongue.
Material speaks.

“Please join Sculpture Space and the artists in residence – who called Utica home for the last five weeks – for an open studio. This artist cohort brings a unique mix of culture and history as far as Ukraine, South Africa, Brazil, and Mexico. They traveled diverse creative paths that led to the doors of Sculpture Space. This evening of artistic exploration and lively discussion is intergenerational and free to the public.”

(As directed by the State of New York, masks are not required, but we strongly recommend masking for continuous safety.)
